MANUAL LYMPHATIC DRAINAGE (MLD) FOR BREASTS

By Jan Moor

I have been treating women with breast issues for the past 20 years. The range of issues is varied, ranging from the tenderness of fluid retention of puberty to the hormonal changes of menopause, & post-surgical aftercare.

In many cases it is due to poor lymph flow in the affected area.

Breast Conditions treated have included:

  • Puberty & Pregnancy Breast tenderness
  • Breast Feeding Engorgement, Mastitis
  • Benign Breast Cysts, Fibrocystic changes, Fibroadenoma (fibrous, lumpy breast tissue)
  • Post Surgical Aftercare:

Augmentation (Implants), Tissue Expansion, Fat Grafting, Breast Lift

Breast Reduction

Mastectomy

Axial Cording

Capsular Contracture

Flap Reconstruction (TRAM flap, DIEP flap, LD flap, Hybrid flap, Nipple)

Scar Healing to flatten, minimise visibility, reduce tightness & improve mobility

Lymphoedema

AND for the MEN I have treated:

  • Gynecomastia(post liposuction surgery)

TRAM Flap Reconstruction post Single Mastectomy

 2 weeks post-surgery

 2 months post-surgery

3 months post-surgery

MLD is a non-invasive technique to support the healing process by:

  • Removing stagnant fluid retention
  • Reducing swelling, tightness, stiffness, pain
  • Reducing irregular scar growth/keloids
  • Softening the tissue, easing inflammation, reducing congestion & fibrosis
  • Improving post-surgical mobility
  • Stimulating the Parasympathetic Nervous System response of relaxation & calmness during emotional challenges.

Ladies please note:

Wearing a wire bra for those special occasions is reasonable. However, long term daily wear of such tight bras is not advisable as it can restrict movement & good lymph flow.

MLD is not a substitute for your GP.  Any new or persistent breast lumps, or skin changes, should always be evaluated by your GP or healthcare professional.
