You will be comfortably positioned side-lying with pillows, we also have economic prenatal cushions if necessary – all to make you feel more comfortable for your treatment. Although studies have never proven the use of essential oils to be harmful to the baby it’s IBT‘s policy that we do not use any essential oils in any of the trimesters. We play it safe for mum and baby.
12 weeks and your good to go…
We also choose not to perform any remedial or sports massage treatments until you reach the second trimester, i.e. 12 weeks onwards. Obviously within the first few weeks of becoming pregnant your baby is very small and the organs are only just starting to grow, so with the chances of lowering your blood pressure during the massage treatment, we simply choose not to perform remedial or Sports Massages.
General low blood pressure has been shown to prove that miscarriages can occur.
For Lymphatic drainage massage therapy within the first trimester, please consult our therapists for further information. We always have you and your baby in mind, all treatments will be followed up within 24 hours to check in on how you are feeling. At any time, if you have any concerns or questions, just ask us.
